Practicum
The Nathan M. Bisk College of Business at Florida Tech offers educational programs that benefit both students and employers in the local area. One way in which the college strives to achieve that objective is by conducting a Practicum in Business.
The practicum can be an extremely valuable experience for students since it provides the opportunity to incorporate realistic and practical business experiences, not normally achievable in a classroom setting, into academic programs; enabling students to gain insight into industries and disciplines of interest. This practical experience peaks interest in some students for future employment; and provides contacts and networking opportunities to assist in securing future employment.
Employers benefit as a result of having available the services of dependable, conscientious and knowledgeable students who are able to think critically and bring a helping hand and a fresh perspective to the organization. An additional benefit to employers is the opportunity to assess the student's fit as future full-time employee.
The practicum also accrues significant benefit to the college as a result of feedback from both students and host employers which enables the university to make effective and appropriate changes in program curriculum and course content.
