The College of Business at Florida Tech attempts to offer educational programs that will benefit both our students and employers in the local area. One way in which we strive to achieve that objective is by conducting a Practicum in Business.
The Practicum can be an extremely valuable experience for students since it provides them the opportunity to incorporate realistic and practical business experiences, not normally achievable in a classroom setting, into their academic programs; enables them to gain insights into industries and disciplines in which they might have an interest for future employment; and provides contacts and networking opportunities to assist in securing future employment.
Employers benefit as a result of having available the services of dependable, conscientious and knowledgeable students who are able to think critically and who can bring a helping hand and a fresh perspective to the organization. An additional benefit to employers is the opportunity to assess the students' "fit" as future full time employees.
The Practicum also accrues significant benefit to the College of Business as a result of feedback from both students and host employers which enable us to effect appropriate changes in our overall curriculum as well as individual course content.
